DJ Worthy is a Detroit-raised, NYC-based DJ with a sound rooted in the music that raised him—Motown, house, techno, hip-hop, R&B, and the raw energy of Detroit ghetto tech.

His sets move between soulful and gritty, blending ghetto tech, soulful and gospel house, hip-hop and R&B without being boxed into one sound. You might hear church vocals over a hard house groove, a Detroit classic flipped into something unexpected, or an R&B record that takes the room somewhere completely different. For Worthy, it’s always about knowing the room, building the energy, and making the music feel good.

That approach comes from more than 15 years behind the decks. In NYC, he spent seven years behind Trappy Hour, a weekly Black queer party in Harlem that became a staple of the community and helped shape his approach to playing across genres and generations.

Since then, Worthy has played everywhere from clubs and weddings to destination events and major brand experiences, including Frolic Weekend in Provincetown, the Behind the Scenes Beauty Soirée by Derick Monroe, and the Survivor 50 launch event with Paramount+.

Detroit will always be at the center of what he does. Inspired by the soul and innovation of artists and DJs like Juan Atkins, Todd Terry, Terry Hunter, Frankie Knuckles, Kaytranada, Joe Kay and Sheefy McFly, Worthy brings those influences together without trying to recreate anyone else’s sound.
